In 1990, The Simpsons was one of, if not the, biggest shows on TV. It was an instant smash hit that everyone involved was rushing to capitalize upon.

That is literally the only explanation for the existence of The Simpsons Sing The Blues, which is definitely one of the albums ever recorded and consists mostly of…blues and early rock songs sung by the Simpsons, with at best minimal lyrical alterations. Presumably based solely on the star power of this wacky yellow family, it somehow went platinum in a week.

There's probably a lot that could be said about these blues tracks, but I'm not familiar enough with the blues to say much of substance, so I will not be doing an in-depth review of the album, as I was initially planning to.

These two songs and videos–Do The Bartman and Deep, Deep Trouble–are what the remainder of this post will be about, because there's definitely a lot to be said about them, and while I'm not well versed in rap either (because much like Matt Groening himself, my father is an ethnic Mennonite, which is a group only even remotely represented in rap by Amish Paradise), I've heard enough to know that these are…not exactly the best examples of the genre.
